Smoke from 2 fires burning in Mexico seen in south San Diego

No structures are being threatened on the U.S. side of the border, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

SAN DIEGO — Two fires that broke out Thursday burning south of the U.S.-Mexico border produced smoke plumes visible from south San Diego County. 

One fire is reportedly burning south of Rosarito and north of Ensenada, east of Guadalupe. Wind gusts in the area before midday were reportedly in the 20 mph range with humidity in the single digits and temperatures in the 90s. 

It was unclear where the second fire was burning.

No structures are being threatened on the U.S. side of the border, according to Cal Fire San Diego. The agency indicated they are monitoring both fires and will respond if there are any threats to San Diego County.
