One dead, one injured in Escondido stabbing

Police believe the incident may have been gang related.

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — One person died in Escondido Saturday night after they were stabbed, Escondido Police confirm. 

Police were notified just after 9 p.m. that two people had been stabbed on the 1000 block of North Ivy Street in Escondido. 

Police say one victim was pronounced deceased at Palomar Hospital. The second victim was transported to Sharp Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

Officers learned a large group of men were seen fighting in the middle of the street and fled before police arrived, according to a news release from the police department. 

Detectives believe the incident may have been gang related. Police are still searching for suspects. No one is in custody.
