A SWAT standoff has prompted a road closure in both directions of Vista Ramona Road between Old Julian Highway and Wood Hills Lane.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded to reports of a fight between two men near the 4100 block of Monroe Avenue in Kensington on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m.

When police arrived on the scene, one of the suspects had a gun and fled the scene on a black motorcycle. Officers followed the suspect to a rural property in Ramona where the pursuit ended.

Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect before he barricaded himself inside a structure at the rural Ramona property, San Diego Police Department Lt. Adam Sharki said.

A SWAT team was then called in by San Diego Police. Officers are actively negotiating with the suspect.

"We believe he is armed and dangerous,'' Sharki said.
