ENCINITAS, Calif. — A teenager has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his brother to death during an altercation in Encinitas.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Miguel Mozo-Hernandez, 19, died after he was allegedly stabbed in the stomach by his 17-year-old brother after a fight.
Sheriff’s Deputies said the stabbing occurred on the 300 block of Sprucewood Drive in Encinitas at around 10:00 p.m. on May 11 after the two brothers got into a fight in front of the house.
During the fight, Mozo-Hernandez was stabbed in the stomach by his 17-year-old brother.
First responders provided aid and transported Mozo-Hernandez to the hospital. According to the sheriff’s department, Mozo-Hernandez was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital.
Mozo-Hernandez’s brother, a juvenile who has not been publicly identified, was located by authorities half a mile away near LA Fitness.
The 17-year-old has been arrested for homicide and booked into Juvenile Hall, the sheriff’s department said.
