SAN DIEGO — A beloved Mexican restaurant in North San Diego County will serve its last guests at the end of May.
Tio Leo’s Cantina and Mexican Restaurant announced it will close its location in Poway located at 12205 Scripps Poway Pkwy Ste. E101 on May 26.
“From our Poway Tio Leo's table to yours. Thank you for the loyalty and memories through the years, it's been our pleasure serving you and your family in Scripps Ranch, Poway, and the greater SD area! We have made a difficult decision and will be closing our Poway location,” the company said on social media.
This is the second Tio Leo’s restaurant to close in less than a year. In Dec. 2023, the popular Mexican restaurant closed its first location on Mission Gorge Road.
The Grantville location served the San Diego community for 44 years and closed on New Year's Eve.
Nightclub owner Leo Scuito opened the well-known restaurant in 1979. CBS 8 spoke to his son Frank before the original location closed in 2023.
"It's where I cut my teeth and got started. My Dad gave me the opportunity to learn the business and he gave me a chance to learn everything," said Frank.
Tio Leo’s has one remaining restaurant that you can visit located at 5302 Napa St.
