SAN DIEGO — Two men have now been arrested in connection to a double homicide on October 28 in El Cajon at a house party, the El Cajon Police Department said on Tuesday.
Police initially responded to a shooting on the 700 block of Mahogany Drive in El Cajon on October 28. When they arrived, officers said they saw multiple people fleeing the area.
Two victims, a 16 and an 18-year-old teen were found critically wounded on the scene. They were rushed to local area hospitals, but they did not survive their injuries.
"Preliminary findings indicate that both victims were targeted by an assailant," said Lt. Will Guerin of the El Cajon Police Department. "The suspect fled the scene on foot, eventually escaping in a nearby vehicle. It is suspected the attack was gang-related."
Over the course of the investigation, El Cajon Police said they used automated license plate reader technology to locate the getaway vehicle.
El Cajon Police identified the two suspects as Bruce Luu, 21, and Dan Nalab, 24. The department said that both are San Diego residents.
Nalab was taken into custody on November 18 on an unrelated firearm charge by the Chula Vista Police Department. Bruce Luu was apprehended on November 20 thanks to the assistance of the US Marshals Service, East County Regional Gang Task Force, and the El Cajon Police Department.
Dan Nalab and Bruce Luu have been charged with first-degree murder and are being held without bail in San Diego County Central Jail.
At the request of the families, authorities have not released the names of the victims.
