Suspect identified in Point Loma shooting that left two dead, one injured

Police arrested the suspected gunman shortly after they arrived on scene, who they say is the son of the surviving victim.

SAN DIEGO — Two people are dead and a third person is injured after a shooting in Point Loma Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The gunfire at Poinsettia Dive and Zola Street erupted shortly before 4 p.m., according to San Diego police.

A man and woman were killed during the shooting. While they have not been identified yet, police described them as a white woman in her 60s and a white man in his 30s.

The third victim is described as a white woman in her 80s. She was transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds but is said to be in stable condition.

Police arrested the suspected gunman shortly after they arrived on scene. The 60-year-old man arrested has been identified as William Bushey, the son of the surviving victim. Bushey was booked on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

SDPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. While it's believed to be a family-related incident, the exact details of what happened and why are under investigation.

"We know we have two people who were killed and our priority is to make sure that this person that we have apprehended is who did it and figure out exactly why and how it happened,” SDPD Homicide Unit Lt. Jud Campbell said.
