SAN DIEGO — A Walmart in North San Diego County is undergoing a major remodel that will modernize the store for shoppers.
Construction has started at Walmart in Escondido located at 1330 E Grand Ave that will usher the store into its next era as the company begins to transform stores across the United States.
Walmart said the store remodels are part of the company’s commitment to invest in local communities.
New changes
After construction is completed, Walmart said Escondido shoppers will see plenty of new, modern changes.
- A newly renovated pharmacy with a brand-new private consultation room
- An expanded online pickup and delivery department
- A brand-new community-focused mural
- Newly renovated restrooms
”Our new and remodeled stores will reflect Walmart's Store of the Future concept, featuring improved layouts, expanded product selections and innovative technology to help our associates better support our customers and make shopping more convenient and enjoyable,” said John Funer, Walmart CEO and President.
First look
Walmart said that it plans to remodel 650 stores in nearly 50 states and Puerto Rico within the next year. The company said it planned to develop a nationwide network of affordable EV charging stations for shoppers and employees.
