SAN DIEGO — Wondering what's going on with the old Mission Valley Bed Bath and Beyond? Well, the wait is over.
A new tenant is moving into the former site of the iconic home goods destination.
Jerome’s Furniture announced plans to open its new, temporary store at Westfield Mission Valley, the site of the former Bed Bath and Beyond.
Jerome’s Furniture will celebrate its grand opening in the two-story location on Friday, Feb. 16.
"We are excited to bring the Jerome's experience and Jerry’s Price to Mission Valley in this unique setting," said Brian Woods, CEO of Jerome's Furniture. "Our temporary location allows us to showcase our commitment to quality and affordability while providing a no-frills and convenient shopping experience for our valued customers in San Diego County."
The new, temporary location will feature a wide variety of Jerome's popular furniture, new Modern Living department and one of the largest clearance centers in San Diego.
Bed Bath and Beyond called San Diego County home for decades. In 2022, the company announced its plan to close nearly 150 stores across the U.S. as it faced potential bankruptcy.
The sweeping closures across the country impacted San Diego County, with store closures in Santee and Mission Valley.
Amid the 2023 closure of Bed Bath and Beyond, Westfield Mission Valley was sold for $290 million.
The acquisition was completed in July 2023 and the mall's new owner said the future development of the property included adding more stores, restaurants, outdoor space and plans for affordable housing.
