SAN DIEGO — A wildfire that burned over 188 acres of rugged hilly terrain in the Pine Valley area was 25% contained Tuesday, but firefighters had stopped its forward rate of spread, according to the Cleveland National Forest Twitter page.
The Pine Creek Road is temporarily closed while firefighting resources work to suppress the fire. No evacuations or structures are threatened at this time, according to Cleveland National Forest.
The forward rate of spread of the fire has stopped and firefighters will continue to put in containment lines around the perimeter and mop up.
The flames from the #ValleyFire pushed to the northeast through grass and heavy brush, away from populated areas, as ground crews and personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters worked to subdue the fire.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
