(WBIR - Knoxville) Y-12 National Security Complex announced Wednesday that the current COO of Consolidated Nuclear Security, Morgan Smith, will step up to the position of President and CEO in early February.

CNS operates Y-12 in Oak Ridge and other production facilities in the U.S. Nuclear Security Enterprise.

Smith has served as COO of the company since 2014. He will succeed the current CEO, Jim Haynes, who has been at CNS since 2011.

"Morgan Smith is uniquely positioned to lead CNS at this time based on his past experience managing Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program facilities and his time at CNS,” said Haynes. “Morgan and I have mapped out the path for a successful handoff. I could not be more confident in Morgan's abilities."

Haynes will stay with the company through the end of January to complete Smith’s transition.

Morgan Smith has served as COO of the company since 2014.
