Oceanside's Little Fox Ice Cream shop goes Hollywood

Ice Cream lovers are lining up for flavor called 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'

OCEANSIDE, Calif. — An Oceanside ice cream shop is going Hollywood. In this Zevely Zone, I got the scoop on the special flavor everyone is talking about.

When it comes to sweet treats, you want to be known as the cream of the crop.

"We start with cream, milk, sugar and egg yolks," said owner Meghan Koll. During COVID, she got bored and started making ice cream from scratch. Meghan created flavor after flavor using local ingredients. "You can be so creative and I've made some unbelievably great friendships doing this," said Meghan.

Little Fox offers 24 flavors in all and it's challenging to just pick one.

"It's very hard to decide," said one customer. She eventually chose the flavor 'Death Before Decaf' which is garnished with coffee beans.

"People really love it," said employee Julia Woolridge.

Customers also love classy golden metal taste-testing spoons and don't get me started on the ice cream tacos which are so pretty you feel bad eating them. The homemade ice cream is delivered in tacos, waffle cones or cups.

Vista farmer Lily Murray hand delivers peaches used to make the flavor 'Peeech Please' and the avocados used to make the flavor 'So So Cal' come the Oceanside ranch of recording artist Jason Mraz. "He is just a super cool guy," said Meghan. "You would never know that he is a super famous singer."

"We come in because the flavors are so unique," said customer Emily Majeske. During our visit, we heard the following words repeated again and again, "Can I try the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?"

The biggest seller is made with toasted corn cream, honeycomb, and caramel drizzle. "It's sounds amazing," said a customer named Rachael. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is the reason Meghan opened her ice cream dream. The flavor changed everything. "It did," said Meghan with a smile.

Every scoop is topped with caramel popcorn. "There is no ice cream like this anywhere they are so unique and they are so fresh," said customer TJ Majeske.

All of the ice cream is made right on-site, including the star of them all, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

It was finally time for me to take a bite. "Wow. That's what I call a Hollywood ending. Roll the credits," I announced.

As for Meghan's COVID passion project? "Oh, it's the best job in the world, ha, ha, ha," said Meghan.

Little Fox Cup and Cones is located in South Oceanside at 1940 South Freeman Street. For more information, click here.
