San Diego woman's invention will knock your old socks off and stop heel blisters

'Shezza Socks' went viral with 100 million views on social media and counting.

SAN DIEGO — They say necessity is the mother of invention. In this Zevely Zone, I met a successful San Diego businesswoman whose invention went viral. 25-year-old Tiffany Gil is a woman on the move. "I love to surf, I love to hike, I love to travel," said Tiffany. From all of that movement came a life-changing idea that went viral with social media hits. "Now it's a hundred million. It's a pinch-me sort of thing," said Tiffany.

The San Diego State business major always knew she wanted to make money. She showed me a picture of herself as a young girl holding a $100 bill proving that from an early age she wanted to be an entrepreneur. "Always yes," said Tiffany.

A few years ago, Tiffany was breaking in a new pair of Doc Martin leather boots when her great idea came to her. "The first day that I wore them I got terrible, horrible bloody blisters on the back of my heels and online there were no good solutions. The solutions were to put on Band-Aids, double up on your socks even use duct tape on their feet and I always thought there could be something better," said Tiffany.

Shezza Socks were born. Tiffany's company sews a thick protective pad into every heel. "Here you can see the pad. It's nice an cushy," said Tiffany. "These are our crew, these are our ankle length. Here we have some lace socks as well." They come in five different styles and cost $19.95 each. Tiffany says they are worth every cent. "To never get a blister is your whole life- definitely," said Tiffany. "It really solves a problem."

We should mention that Tiffany kickstarted her sock company with seed money from a crazy stunt. In 2020, she went on a reality show where she rode a lawn mower across America. "It sounds crazy and I still can't believe that I did it," said Tiffany. She finished first and used the prize money to start Shezza Socks on a shoestring budget. She hopes her invention will knock your socks off. "Yes exactly," she said.

Tiffany has sold about 25,000 pairs of socks so far. Her patent for the invention is pending. For more information about Shezza Socks, click here.
