SAN DIEGO (CNS) - SeaWorld San Diego will debut its original live music stage show based on Dreamworks Animation's "Madagascar" franchise Saturday at its newly renovated 700-seat theater.
"Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation" will show the antics that ensue while Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, King Julien, Mort and the penguins take a vacation and feature a band performing both original and classic rock and pop tunes, according to SeaWorld.
Following each 20-minute show, guests will have the opportunity to meet the characters.
Park officials said the stage production will run year-round and performers will put on up to eight shows a day.
The shows are scheduled for the Mission Bay Theater, which was renovated to include a new stage, sound system, lighting and special effects.
Park officials said "Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation" would replace the 4-D movies, such as "Sesame Street presents Lights, Camera, Imagination," which ran from 2008 to 2012; "R.L. Stine's Haunted Lighthouse" from 2003 to 2008; and "Pirated 4-D" from 2000 to 2003.
