OCEANSIDE (CNS) - A shooting at a San Luis Rey-area apartment complex left a young man seriously wounded Friday.
The gunfire in the 500 block of Los Arbolitos Boulevard in northern Oceanside was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m., according to police.
Patrol personnel found the 19-year-old victim inside a rental unit at the complex, Officer Kathleen Vincent said. The man, whose name was not immediately released, was conscious but could provide no information about the shooter, she said.
Medics airlifted the victim to Scripps Memorial Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to his chest.
Witnesses told investigators the assailant and a companion may have fled in a white four-door sedan. Officers fanned out through the area in search of them, with help from a sheriff's helicopter crew.
No arrests had been made in the case as of early afternoon, Vincent said.
