SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man suspected of pulling off a dozen Southern California bank heists -- most of them in the San Diego area -- was behind bars Wednesday in Denver, an FBI spokesman said.
Adam Lynch, 34, who was arrested this week, is suspected of being the "Ho Hum Bandit," said Dave Joly, an FBI spokesman in Denver. Agents gave the robber the name because of his bland, unruffled attitude.
In December, FBI agents in Orange County were told about a serial bank robber wanted in Colorado who matched the description of the Ho-Hum Bandit, who had since made himself scarce in Southern California.
On July 24, the robber hit his 12th Southern California bank, holding up a U.S. Bank branch on Glenneyre Street in Laguna Beach. It marked the second time in a month that the robber targeted the branch.
The day before, he held up a Corona del Mar Citibank -- the same one he had robbed a month before, according to the FBI.
Most of his holdups have been in San Diego County, where his spree appears to have begun in late February of last year with a robbery of a National Bank branch.
Other 2010 holdups attributed to the Ho-Hum Bandit include:
-- San Diego National Bank, on March 9 of that year;
-- Chase Bank, San Diego, March 25;
-- Citibank, San Diego, April 2;
-- Citibank, La Jolla, April 8;
-- Citibank, San Diego, May 8;
-- Wells Fargo, San Diego, June 5; and
-- U.S. Bank, Laguna Beach, June 23.
