New pedestrian lane opens at San Ysidro Port of Entry

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Pedestrian border crossers may see shorter wait times after U.S. Customs and Border Protection opened a new pedestrian lane at the San Ysidro port of entry Tuesday.

Construction started in June to install new kiosks and make other upgrades in the pedestrian processing area.

The improvements are designed to speed up inspections. They include a "ready lane" that will only be open to pedestrians who have a travel document with RFID technology.
