SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) — Investigators say 54-year-old Peter Chadwick killed his wife back in 2012 and disappeared while he was free on bond in 2015. Now they're hoping a new reward and podcast series will help lead to his capture.
The search for millionaire fugitive Peter Chadwick is heating up. But at this point, authorities concede the 54-year-old from Newport Beach could be anywhere in the world based on his sizable financial means.
Authorities say he’s taken every opportunity to cover his tracks
Those attempts to hide his tracks, police say, began soon after Peter Chadwick and his wife QC mysteriously went missing from their Newport Beach home, in October of 2012.
The next day Chadwick called 911 from a gas station in San Diego. He told local authorities that his wife had been killed by a handyman who had subsequently kidnapped Peter and taken QC’s body.
Despite what he said, Peter Chadwick quickly became the prime suspect.
After questioning Chadwick led authorities to a garbage bin in Lakeside where his wife's strangled body had been dumped.
Chadwick was arrested for the murder but ultimately posted $2-million bail disappearing in early 2015.
Authorities are now renewing the effort to locate Peter Chadwick with a $100,000 reward for his capture.
They have also launched an intriguing true-crime podcast available for download called “Countdown to Capture” documenting the alleged murder and subsequent investigation.
It’s designed to generate wider public interest in the case with the hope of answering the biggest question: Where is Peter Chadwick?
Authorities hope he is paying attention as well, saying he can run but he won’t be able to hide much longer.
