SAN DIEGO (AP) - A judge has denied bail for a San Diego man accused of routing money to a Somalia-based terrorist organization.
Issa Doreh and two other San Diego men are among six people indicted nationwide and accused of funneling money to al-Shabib,the al-Qaida-linked militia trying to overthrow the African
nation's transitional government and install a strict brand of Islam.
Prosecutors say Doreh, Mohamed Mohamed Mohamud and Basaaly Saeed Moalin sent almost $9,000 to al-Shabib.
Mohamud and Moalin waived their rights to a custody hearing and were not in court Tuesday.
Prosecutors say that in a recorded call, the men say they are part of the fight.
Doreh's attorney said the defendants were merely expressing opinions on their strife-torn country.
