CARLSBAD (CNS) - A man died and a woman was critically injured in a car crash in Carlsbad Sunday morning, police said.
The man drove his 2007 BMW sedan southbound with the woman on Rancho Santa Fe Road Sunday morning when his car swerved into the raised center median.
This caused the car to roll and collide with a traffic signal pole at the intersection with Camino Junipero.
Carlsbad police investigators said they were not sure if alcohol or speeding had a role in the crash.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger was taken to the hospital for major injuries, according to police.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office could not immediately release the driver's name.
