SAN DIEGO (CNS/CBS 8) - Eight years past 64, former Beatle Paul McCartney is still going strong, and brought his concert tour to Petco Park Sunday night for his first public appearance in San Diego in 38 years.
Tens of thousands of fervent fans packed Petco Park for a performance that many said they had waited a lifetime to experience.
Sir Paul -- who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth -- last played here in 1976 at what was then known as the San Diego Sports Arena. He played a private show in Rancho Santa Fe in 2003.
McCartney and his band have been playing Beatles staples during their tour. Sunday night, McCartney performed for three hours, thrilling fans who had spent hundreds of dollars for the chance to see him live.
