A Camp Pendleton fire dispatcher accused of possessing what's described as an extensive collection of child pornography answered to charges in court on Tuesday.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A Camp Pendleton fire dispatcher accused of possessing what's described as an extensive collection of child pornography answered to charges in court on Tuesday.

William Francis Walsh, 52, of Vista was arrested last week and faces a number of criminal charges including sexual exploitation of a child.

Dressed in a dark suit and standing next to his attorney, Walsh pleaded not guilty to felony counts of possessing distributing and advertising child pornography.

The Camp Pendleton fire dispatcher- spoke just once during his arraignment.

The vista resident surrendered himself at his defense attorneys office last week

“He's absolutely sick to his stomach. He can't believe the charges. He doesn't know anything about it. Doesn't know where this is coming from,” said Walsh's attorney, William Wolfe.

Investigators began taking a closer look at Walsh back in June.

Escondido police and the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said they found numerous videos of child pornography from Walsh during a week long investigation.

“He had no knowledge of this information on his computer,” said Wolfe.

In July detectives searched his house- and found a quote "extensive collection and history of child pornography images and videos downloaded and distributed electronically from his home.”

“The charges are very disturbing. The information is disturbing, but I can tell you, the images are even more disturbing. The actual viewing of the images, it's something you never want to see,” said Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Dort.

Walsh’s defense attorney said his client is anxious to prove his innocence.
