SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — The San Diego County November 7 special Election included 4 items to vote on. Here is what was on the ballot for some voters.
District 4 San Diego County Supervisor
Monica Montgomery Steppe, a San Diego City Councilwoman since 2018, handily defeated private investigator Amy Reichert in Tuesday's special election. Montgomery Steppe led Reichert, 61%-39%, 48,636-31,101, according to results released by the San Diego County Registrar of Voters on November 8.
Chula Vista City Attorney
Former Chula Vista City Attorney Bart Miesfeld and Deputy City Attorney Marco Verdugo appear to be headed for a March 5 runoff in the special election for Chula Vista city attorney as no candidate looks to be able to get more than 50% of the vote. The vote count on Nov 8 showed that Miesfeld led the field of three with 39.41%, 7,782 votes, while Verdugo was second with 38.26%, 7,555 votes, according to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters on November 8. Former federal public defender Dan Smith Diaz was third with at 22.32%, 4,407 votes.
Fallbrook and Rainbow Water
While voters in the Fallbrook Public Utility and Rainbow Municipal Water districts overwhelmingly approved measures to leave the San Diego County Water Authority, the departure faces a January court challenge. Measure A, in the Fallbrook Public Utility District, leads 94.35%- 5.65%, 4,492-269, while Measure B in the Rainbow Municipal Water District leads 95.37%-4.63%, 4,924-239, according to figures from Tuesday's voting released by the San Diego County Registrar of Voters on November 8.
