Residents opposed to new Crawford High School stadium

El Cerrito residents attended the San Diego Unified School District board meeting Tuesday night to express their concerns about plans to build a new sports complex at Crawford High School.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - El Cerrito residents attended the San Diego Unified School District board meeting Tuesday night to express their concerns about plans to build a new sports complex at Crawford High School.

The multi-million dollar expansion project includes a new sports stadium with high rising light poles.

Residents are concerned about increased traffic, lack of parking and noise and that the stadium will be rented out to sports leagues.

"It's terrible. It's tragic and it's shameful. They're gonna put this stadium in the most densely populated area. This school has smaller acreage than any other in the San Diego Unified School District," said El Cerrito resident Jim Zumbiel.

Residents have been meeting with representatives from Crawford High School about the use of the new stadium. However, they say they've yet to hear from anyone from the school district.
