SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A resolution to change San Diego State's Aztec warrior mascot has failed.
The vote was nearly unanimous, with 25 nos, one yes and three abstentions.
"A lot of students were obviously not in support of the resolution and that's reflective of the vote by the council representatives that were here today," Associated Students VP of University Affairs Corey Polant said.
A student organization had drafted the resolution to change the mascot. Wednesday's vote comes after a month's worth of discussion and research among different groups on campus.
The board of directors will make the final decision.
