DEL MAR (CBS 8) - Donations to the San Diego Food Bank usually drop off in the summer, and this year the food bank is reaching out to fairgoers to help the county's hungry.
The food bank is holding a food drive at the San Diego County Fair Tuesday and next Tuesday, asking for nonperishable donations.
They're looking for dry goods like rice and pasta, along with canned fruits, vegetables and juices. Anyone who donates will get something in return.
"During our food drive days, which are today and next Tuesday the 18th, we're giving away, for a $10 donation to the food bank, we're giving away a free ticket to come back to the fair," food bank spokesperson Kaye de Lancey said.
Anyone making a $5 donation will get a discounted ticket to come back to the fair.
The San Diego Food Bank feeds 350,000 people every month.
