SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Family and friends packed into a synagogue downtown Wednesday to say goodbye to a dear member of the KFMB-TV family -- former "Sun Up" host Jerry G. Bishop.
The 77-year old died on September 15 after several years of failing health.
From 1978 to 1990, he entertained San Diegans as the Emmy-winning host of KFMB-TV's morning talk show, "Sun Up San Diego."
Bishop's former co-hosts, Danuta Pfeiffer and Kathi Diamant, fondly remembered their old friend during the service.
"He comes into 'Sun Up' and his talent was absolutely explosive. He could take a segment and make it into something even though it was nothing," Pfeiffer said.
"I know of all the things he loved, he loved being on television. He loved being on radio. He loved life. He loved food. He loved the things that were around him. But more than all of that, he loved his family," Diamant said.
Bishop is survived by his wife, Liz, and their two children Chris and Melissa.
