SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – School bus drivers headed to class for training they hope they will never have to use.
Safety experts, including former law enforcement officers, led an eight-hour session Saturday designed to teach drivers what to do if they are confronted by someone with a gun.
Bus drivers say the training helps them feel more prepared and confident.
"You want to be in control and it's important to show someone who's trying to get on the bus that you are the boss. And that's what they showed us what to do today. We're the boss of the bus," Ramona school bus driver Elizabeth Bargo said.
The training session involved bus drivers from San Diego and 33 other school districts in Southern California.
