SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego State University marked the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's speech at the university Tuesday.
Kennedy's visit to SDSU was the first in the university's history by a president in office.
As the senior class president at the time, Bob Weir was in charge of finding a commencement speaker. He wrote a letter to President Kennedy, asking him to speak, and was surprised when Kennedy answered yes.
"He's just full of life and he can't wait to get to San Diego, to come here to San Diego State and I just kept thinking, you know, this is a dream," Weir said.
