SAN DIEGO (CBS8) - On Friday, SeaWorld will ask the California Coastal Commission to sign off on plans for its new orca encounter.
The new stage is meant to mimic the whale's natural habitat in the Pacific Northwest. If the commission approves the rendering, SeaWorld says construction could begin in January and be completed by April.
The new attraction would debut first in San Diego.
SeaWorld is no longer breeding its orcas and theatrical shows are ending this year.
