SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Patients, caregivers and community members gathered at Sharp Memorial Hospital in Serra Mesa Thursday to celebrate the reopening of a $7.7-million dollar inpatient center.
The Sharp Allison Derose Rehabilitation Center located on Health Center Drive was extensively renovated. The 30-bed unit was named after a former patient whose family donated $1 million toward the costs of the project.
The new facility will provide intensive rehabilitative care for up to 450 San Diegans each year who suffer from brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes and other debilitating diseases.
