SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A former News 8 anchor has a special connection to the region devastated by Monday's deadly tornado.
Stan Miller is from Oklahoma and returned there to work several years ago.
News 8's Phil Blauer spoke to Stan Thursday and files the following report:
When ex News 8 anchor Stan Miller returned to his native Oklahoma, he knew what settling in "tornado alley" could mean someday.
He knew he would be pushed emotionally and professionally and that moment happened this week when the massive twisters spun his way.
By phone, Stan shared some of the incredible stories he's been covering since Monday.
As he surveyed what was left of a mobile home park, Stan spotted dangerous mountains debris which had been uniquely twisted and turned by a devastating Oklahoma tornado, which touched down Monday.
A few steps further, the veteran journalist saw a sign of just how fast and furious the tornado must have been.
Amid all of the darkness and destruction around him, Stan's smile returned, when he was able to reunite a black dog who had been separated from his owner and who was on a desperate search to find any trace of his old home.
Hours later, Stan found himself in downtown Moore, covering the aftermath, continuing to discover tales of survival that blew him away.
