"The Big Idea" helps spinal cord injury patients

For the first time in history, researchers have found a way to help people with spinal cord injuries regain some of their mobility.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - For the first time in history, researchers have found a way to help people with spinal cord injuries regain some of their mobility.

Scientists say "The Big Idea" uses an implanted epidural stimulator to help people with spinal cord injuries gain some control over their legs and several other bodily functions.

Now, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is hoping to rally San Diegans to help raise money for the next step of the research program.
