The Samuel Project

'The Samuel Project' is a powerful story about one teen’s discovery of the heroism within his own family history and stars San Diego local Ryan Ochoa. In theaters on Friday!

SAN DIEGO - 'The Samuel Project' is in theaters nationwide on Friday, October 5th.

The film was shot here in San Diego and stars San Diego native Ryan Ochoa.

Ochoa was discovered at age five while running around his dad’s furniture store here in San Diego, when a talent manager approached and said “he should be in commercials.”

'The Samuel Project' is a powerful story about one teen’s discovery of the heroism within his own family history when he chooses his grandfather as the subject of his senior art project.

Particularly relevant today, the film explores the use of art to tell a story of generations coming together and preserve the history of an individual who kept his painful story secret, even from those he loved.

With dreams of becoming an artist, a teen (Ryan Ochoa) makes his grandfather, Samuel (Hal Linden), the subject of an animated art project for school. He then discovers that his grandpa, a dry cleaner in San Diego, was heroically saved as a boy from Nazi capture by a young woman in Germany.
