Traffic tied up on Interstate 5 after big rig crash

A crash involving a semi truck and a Land Rover is causing major back up on Interstate 5 just south of the Pacific Highway Wednesday afternoon. Lanes are being shut down at this time.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – It was a traffic nightmare on Interstate 5 Wednesday, after a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer.

The crash happened just after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday on the southbound I-5 near Pacific Highway in Middletown. The big rig was sent crashing into the center divide.

At least four people were hurt.

Crews had to clean up a fuel spill and remove the big rig from the freeway, which created a huge traffic jam.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
