SAN DIEGO (CBS8) - An upcoming new book focusing on the Hannah Anderson kidnapping case is casting suspicion on the Lakeside teen's story.
True-crime author and blogger Chelsea Hoffman said Hannah's behavior after her abduction and the murders of her mother and brother is not typical of other kidnap survivors.
Hoffman also said she believes Hannah may not be telling the entire truth about what really happened during her kidnapping ordeal at the hands of James DiMaggio.
"The whole entire country is captivated by Hannah's story," Hoffman told News 8.
It's a story that the Las Vegas-based novelist is now exploring in her upcoming book
"River of No Return: On the Trail of Hannah Anderson and Jim DiMaggio," is slated to be released on November 2 by Taylor Street Books.
"She's on the outside the embodiment of the American girl next door, but on the other hand, she has a suspicious streak," Hoffman told News 8.
Part of this suspicious behavior, according to Hoffman, centers around Hannah's frequent -- and highly public -- on-line activity on social media sites like Ask.fm and Instagram, sharing details of her kidnapping ordeal.
Hoffman also pointed out what she refers to as "consistent inconsistencies" in Hannah's story.
For example, Hoffman questioned why Hannah did not try to signal for help when she and DiMaggio encountered the four armed horseback riders in the Idaho back country.
This past weekend, Hannah apparently continued to post more pictures of herself and a friend taking a 'weekend trip' to New York City, where some speculate Hannah may be shopping her own book.
"A couple of her friends let it slip she is out there telling her story," Hoffman said.
While Hoffman says her sources are "solid, she said she has not tried to contact Hannah Anderson directly for this upcoming expose.
"I haven't really tried to reach out to her," Hoffman said, "because I'm an adult and she's not, and I'd rather just not get involved in making a teen-aged girl who could very well be the victim of a crime feel uncomfortable. I do have sensitivity for her."
News 8 has reached out to Hannah's father, Brett Anderson, as well as other members of Hannah's family, for comment on this upcoming book. They have not yet responded.
