SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Marine Corps honored one of its own Friday at Camp Pendleton.
Sergeant Matthew T. Woodall was awarded the Silver Star for his actions while deployed in Afghanistan.
Woodall threw his body on top of an injured Marine during a heavy firefight, then successfully led his squad on a mission against an insurgent stronghold in Helmund Province.
Woodall, a Kentucky native, was honorably discharged from the corps last December.
