SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Trial continues Tuesday for the man accused of shooting two young girls at Kelly Elementary School in Carlsbad.
In opening statements Monday, prosecutors portrayed Brendan O'Rourke as a domestic terrorist who methodically planned his attack.
"The target of this domestic terror was 6, 7, and 8 year old children at that school and any adult who got in his way," Deputy district attorney, Summer Stephan said.
The two young girls who were shot on October 8, 2010, testified in court Monday.
Carlos Partida, a construction worker who helped subdue the shooter, also testified.
"So I hit him a few times with my fists and was able to reach the gun with my hand," Partida said.
O'Rourke pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to more than a dozen charges.
