SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Volunteers spent Saturday morning scouting the San Diego Riverbed, documenting areas that contain excessive trash and invasive plants.
The effort was part of the San Diego River Park Foundation's River-Blitz.
During Saturday's event, volunteers surveyed seven miles of the riverbed between Friars Road and Fashion Valley Mall. Coordinators say while some areas look better than usual, others need assistance.
More than seven hundred volunteers will help clean trash in five areas along the river during the Clean Sweep River Clean Ups on October 24th.
