LA MESA (CBS 8) - Witnesses rushed to lift a car off a pedestrian who was pinned underneath in La Mesa.
The incident happened Tuesday night on the 7400 block of El Cajon Boulevard.
Police say an older man was jaywalking, when he was struck.
"Crossing the street in the dark always an unsafe idea. There's not a lot of street lights here, and with traffic in both directions dividing the street, always better to cross at a crosswalk or an intersection," said Lt. Greg Runge, La Mesa PD.
The driver cooperated with police and isn't expected to face charges.
The unidentified man suffered broken bones, but is expected to survive.
