Wright brothers' engine replica on display

Volunteers at the San Diego Air and Space Museum have recreated the most famous airplane engine in history.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Volunteers at the San Diego Air and Space Museum have recreated the most famous airplane engine in history.

To commemorate the 112th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first flight, museum staff displayed an exact replica of the engine used to power the 1903 flyer.

Volunteers built the engine on site at the Air and Space Museum, using the same materials the Wright brothers used to assemble their engine more than a century ago.
