SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - The most abundant mammal in Australia is a sugar glider, although its habitat, like that of most animals, is threatened.
The sugar glider is a marsupial whose closest relatives are the feather tail glider, squirrel glider and the fluffy glider.
It can be found in Tasmania and neighboring islands, eastern and northern Australia and north to New Guinea.
These guys have to be on the lookout for snakes, and even house cats, which prey on them.
Visiting News 8 with a sugar glider is Heather Alford from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
