VISTA, Calif. — Southern California and San Diego in particular have always been considered a hub for skateboarding. From the game-changing legend, Tony Hawk, to the youngsters just now getting on a board, SoCal and skateboards go together like salt and pepper.
News 8's Jake Garegnani headed to Vista to check in on one of the state's finest skate facilities. The CA | TF (CA Skateparks Elite Training Facility) is a high-performance center developed explicitly for skateboarding.
With skateboarding scheduled to make its Olympic debut in 2020, this facility looks to be at the forefront of helping develop youth, as well as hone the skills of the professionals so they can live out their Olympic dreams.
You don't have to be an Olympic hopeful to grind the rails or ride the bowl at CA | TF. While it is recommended that you are "serious" about your skateboarding development, the CA | TF welcomes everyone that wants to improve or learn, no matter your age or skill set.
The facility offers professional private coaching programs and developmental classes that are "developed for those entry-level to advanced skateboarders that are looking to progress their skateboarding." It also hosts weekly open skate sessions for the public, family sessions and even BMX sessions.
