SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Some Padres season ticket holders are being bumped out of their seats for one of the best games of the season.
The New York Yankees are coming to town in August and the fans are crying foul.
"I've been a season ticket holder since 1994," said David Krohn.
For almost two decades, San Diego Padres fan David Krohn has purchased a partial season ticket package from the team.
The deal includes home games on four specific days of the week.
"My games have been Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for 19 years, and this came as a complete surprise to me," said Krohn.
The surprise came Tuesday when Krohn received his season tickets in the mail.
Instead of getting tickets for the Padres versus New York Yankees game on Saturday night, August 3rd, he was bumped to the Yankees day game on Sunday, August 4th.
"Saturday's game is an evening game, more enjoyable to me and it's when I have time to go to the game," he said. "The Sunday game, it's 80 or 90 degrees down there, no shade, and that's not my preference."
The Yankees have not played in San Diego for more than a decade and the game on Saturday night at Petco Park is sure to be a sellout.
Tickets are selling online for hundreds of dollars, leading Krohn to believe the Padres' only motive for the ticket switch is money.
"Tickets are being sold at a higher market value than the ticket values, and someone's out making money on this," he said.
The Padres issued a statement saying that ticket switching is standard practice among teams, and that quote:
"Our service team is working directly with any Padres partial season ticket holder who has asked to exchange their Yankees tickets from Sunday to Saturday."
Krohn says he emailed the service team two days ago and still has not heard back.
"If the Padres don't handle their season ticket holder better, myself and other will be leaving," he said.
The Padres' statement did not indicate how many season ticket holders got bumped.
The team's president and vice president are both out of town and unavailable for comment.
