LOS ANGELES —

The San Diego Padres’ postseason run turned back around Sunday night with a 10-2 win against the Dodgers in Game 2 of the National League Division Series.

The teams are now tied 1-1 with the next game of the best-of-five series back home for the Padres in San Diego at Petco Park on Tuesday at 6:08 p.m.

San Diego showed some power at the plate with six total home runs in the game.  They got 2 home runs from Fernando Tatis Jr., one in the first inning and another in the ninth, David Peralta in the second inning, and 2 in the eighth, one from rookie sensation Jackson Merril and another from Xander Bogaerts. Kyle Higashioka added another one in the top of the ninth inning as well.

Starting pitcher Yu Darvish looked strong on the mound pitching seven innings and giving up one run on Sunday evening.

Dodger Stadium fans tossed baseballs, apparently at San Diego left fielder Jurickson Profar, and then threw trash that caused a 12-minute delay during the seventh inning of NL Division Series Game 2 on Sunday night.

Profar had robbed Mookie Betts of a home run in the first inning, reaching into the stands behind the low left-field wall. As Betts rounded the bases, Profar hopped up and down for several seconds, back to the plate, before turning and throwing the ball to the infield.

Musgrove out

On Friday, the team announced Joe Musgrove would require Tommy John surgery and wouldn't pitch for the San Diego Padres in the NL Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The right-hander has a UCL injury, A.J. Preller, the Padres president of baseball operations, said Friday.

Musgrove left Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series with elbow tightness.

He had been pitching through discomfort for a couple of weeks. The 31-year-old right-hander been on the injured list from late May through mid-August with various elbow issues. He had a 2.17 ERA over 54 innings since Aug. 12.

Losing Musgrove is a blow. The native of El Cajon is revered by Padres fans for throwing the first no-hitter in franchise history in 2021.

"He's a special individual, but I can tell you we'll be just fine and compete," manager Mike Shildt said. "He'll be in our hearts but won't be with us on the mound."

The Padres will start right-hander Dylan Cease in Game 1, followed by righty Yu Darvish in Game 2.

"He's a great leader, great teammate," Cease said of Musgrove. "He'll be with us in other ways."
