San Diego Padres cancel annual FanFest at Petco Park due to incoming storm

FanFest ticketholders will have the chance to claim free tickets to an exhibition game of their choice next week.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres have canceled its annual FanFest due to an incoming storm.

Padres FanFest was set to kickoff the Friars’ 2024 season on Sunday but has been canceled by the team due to “expected inclement weather” that could hit San Diego County this weekend.

FanFest ticketholders will have the chance to claim free tickets to an exhibition game of their choice next week in selected areas while tickets remain.

The Padres have also rescheduled the celebration of former Chairman and Owner, Peter Seidler. The team will honor Seidler during a ceremony at Petco Park on Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m.

Parking for the ceremony is free and available in neighboring Padres-controlled lots, including the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot and Padres Parkade.

The Padres will also livestream the ceremony here.

Gates for Monday’s exhibition game will open early starting at 3:00 p.m. to allow fans to explore the newly transformed Gallagher Square.

The highly anticipated reveal of Gallagher Square also marks start of the Padres’ commemoration of Petco Park’s 20th anniversary.

Padres FanFest has become massive season kickoff that brings thousands of fans to Petco Park every year.

The massive annual season kickoff event was set to feature appearances by Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., Xander Bogaerts, Joe Musgrove, Yu Darvish, Mike Shildt and celebrate the historic transformation of Gallagher Square.

The Inaugural San Diego Celebrity Softball Game scheduled during FanFest was also canceled. The inaugural game was set to feature more than 20 professional athletes, world champions, Olympic champions, reality and social media stars.
