San Diego Padres sign Profar for a one-year contract

The 30-year-old Profar has signed on to play for the Padres through the 2024 season, bringing the skills of an infielder/outfielder and a switch hitter.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres announced in a press release on Saturday they have signed infielder/outfielder Jurickson Profar to a one-year contract through the 2024 baseball season, according to the President of Baseball Operations and General Manager, A.J. Peller. 

Profar split his 2023 season between playing for the Padres and the Colorado Rockies. He batted a combined .242 (111 for 459), hitting 27 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 46 RBIs, and scored 55 runs over 125 games.

Profar signed with the Padres last season in September. He made several appearances over 14 games playing first base five times, second base once, left field six times, and playing right field twice. 

When he returned to the team, Profar helped the Padres to a 16-5 record during the final month of the season. Profar established a career high with the Padres with a batting average of .278
