SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers have released long snapper David Binn, the only player left from their 1994 Super Bowl team and the last player left from Bobby Beathard's tenure as general manager.
Binn accurately delivered the ball to Chargers punters and placekickers since 1994, when he joined them as a rookie free agent. The Chargers made it to their only Super Bowl that season, losing 49-26 to the San Francisco 49ers.
Binn injured a hamstring in the 2010 season opener at Kansas City and missed the rest of the year. This would have been his 18th NFL season.
Binn's release means the Chargers will go with Mike Windt as their long snapper. Windt was the fifth long snapper used by the Chargers last year.
