San Diego bars where San Francisco 49ers fans can watch the Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will battle it out in the Super Bowl on February 11 in Las Vegas. It airs February 11 on CBS 8.

SAN DIEGO — Super Bowl LVIII is less than two weeks away.

If you haven't made plans yet, we have some suggestions for where San Francisco 49er fans can watch the big game. There are lots of places to watch the Super Bowl, but if you're a super fan of either team in it, you want to be with your people.

Moonshine Beach in Pacific Beach

For 49ers fans, Pacific Beach's Moonshine Beach at 1165 Garnet Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109 is a good option.

"It's the closest thing to coming to Levi stadium. Absolutely the biggest group of faithful here,” said General Manager Ryan Kuenzi.

Kuenzi says Moonshine Beach has been a 49er’s bar since it opened in 2015, carrying on a tradition that began years earlier.

"Typhoon Saloon was the bar beforehand and they started this Niner tradition and that was in the mid 2000's."

Here, you'll find a 33 foot TV with surround sound on the inside, and another tv out back.

For Super Bowl, expect drink specials, a 49er’s memorabilia auction, and a crowd of 1,000 people.

That doesn't even include everyone who will want to come in, given what 49er games have been like so far this season.

"Around the building we have lines that are 500 people long, and they're waiting probably two to three hours before we even open up the doors, and they're waiting and if they even have a chance they're waiting til the third or fourth quarter just for a chance to get in the building," said Kuenzi.

Kuenzi’s advice: arrive early.

“If you've been here, I don’t need to explain it to you.  If you haven’t been here, this is one of the best experiences you've ever had,” said Kuenzi.

Saddle Bar in Solana Beach

Another place where you'll be surrounded by 49er fans on Super Bowl Sunday is the Saddle Bar in Solana Beach located at 123 Plaza Street, Solana Beach, CA 92075.

“It's been a great year. Awesome to see them win and excited for the Super Bowl,” said Mike Garcia, one of the partners at Saddle Bar.

Like Moonshine Beach, Saddle Bar has been a 49er’s bar since it opened 12 years ago,  something Garcia says started organically.

"Born and raised in San Diego. I’m a die-hard Chargers fan, but during football season that first year we opened up, Chargers games were blacked out because they weren't selling enough tickets and the bartenders I worked with and a couple regulars all from the Bay Area asked if we could put the sound on for the niners," said Garcia.

Garcia says he's already getting calls from people wanting to reserve tables for Super Bowl.

When asked if either bar is doing anything drastically different for the big game, both are sticking to the same mantra - if something works, no need to fix it.

“I would say business as usual. I know a lot of them are very superstitious,” said Garcia.

“You know with it being the Niners, we're gonna keep it very very similar to how we run things just off of superstition,” said Kuenzi.
