SAN DIEGO (AP) — Mike Dee has been fired as president of the San Diego Padres, who were embroiled in a major controversy toward the end of another miserable season.
The team released a one-sentence statement Wednesday morning saying that executive chairman Ron Fowler and managing partner Peter Seidler "announced the departure of" Dee.
Fowler, Seidler and Dee didn't immediately return calls and texts seeking comment.
Dee's ouster came less than a month after general manager A.J. Preller was suspended for a month by MLB after its investigation revealed the Padres had withheld medical information from trade partners.
Seidler has said that Preller's job is safe.
The Padres have missed the playoffs for 10 straight seasons. The team finished last in the National League West with 68 wins and 94 losses in 2016.
